O designer grafico Shigeo Fukuda morrreu com 76 anos.
Nasceu em Tóquio, em 1932.
Graduou-se pelo Departamento de Design da Universidade Nacional de Belas Artes e Música de Tóquio, em 1956.
Os seus prémios incluem: Medalha de Ouro na Bienal Internacional de Varsóvia, 1972; Primeiro Prémio na Bienal Internacional de Moscovo, 1985; Grande Prémio da Exposição Internacional de Cartazes da UNESCO e Grande Prémio da Bienal Internacional de Cartazes de Helsínquia, 1995; outros prémios na Bienal Internacional de Cartazes Bruno e Bienal Internacional de Cartazes Lahti; Prémio de Encorajamento de Novos Talentos Artísticos do Ministro da Educação, 1976; Prémio de Arte Minichi, 1986; “Hall of Fame” – ADC de Nova Iorque, 1987.
Realizou exposições individuais no Museu de Arte Moderna em Quimper, 1991; Museu de Cartazes de Varsóvia e Museu de Arte Moderna, Toyama, 1995; Museu Nacional de Arte Moderna de Tóquio, 1997.
Professor convidado na Universidade Nacional de Belas Artes e Música de Tóquio.
Presidente da JAGDA.
Foi vice-Presidente da ICOGRADA.
Membro da ADC de Tóquio, Royal Designers of Industry e AGI.
"the influential japanese graphic designer shigeo fukuda died of a stroke in tokyo on january 11, 2009, he was 76 years old. the designer was well-known for his anti-war and activist posters which featurediconic and simple graphics. he did very little client work and mainly concentrated on social and culturalconcerns as well as exhibit design. many of his works used humour as key element and often played with visual tricks. fukuda was the first japanese designer inducted into the new york art directors club hall of fame and was invited by designer paul rand to exhibit at the IBM gallery in 1967. "
